New Prints
2002/Autumn

International Print Center New York announces the autumn presentation of its New Prints Program from Thursday, September 19th through Saturday, November 16th in its Chelsea gallery at 526 West 26th Street. New Prints 2002/Autumn is the sixth in a series of juried exhibitions organized by IPCNY, presenting current prints by both established and emerging artists.

With New Prints 2002/Autumn, IPCNY continues its rotating presentation of current prints, establishing an ongoing venue for the viewing of contemporary artists' prints and a central source of information about artists working in the medium of printmaking. For New Prints 2002/Autumn, the Selections Committee, which changes with each New Prints exhibition, was comprised of the following members: Leslie J. Garfield, collector and IPCNY trustee; Larissa Goldston, publisher, ULAE; Carin Kuoni, Director of Exhibitions, Independent Curators International; Marilyn Kushner, Curator, Department of Prints and Drawings, Brooklyn Museum of Art; Andrew Mockler, master printer, Jungle Press Editions; and Wendy Weitman, Curator, Department of Prints and Illustrated Books, The Museum of Modern Art. An essay by Marilyn Kushner offers curatorial comment on this exhibition. Sandra Lang continues in her role as Consultant to the program.

IPCNY received some 600 submissions for New Prints 2002/Autumn, all of which were released within the past year. The Committee selected over forty prints from a wide range of

number of individual artists who self-publish their prints, such as Miguel Aragon and Jason Urban, and the presses of Har-El Printers and Publishers of Israel and Laumont Editions of New York City.
