An IPCNY 5th ANNIVERSARY EVENT

INTERNATIONAL PRINT CENTER NEW YORK ANNOUNCES

NEW PRINTS 2006/SPRING
Selected and Curated by Richard Tuttle

MAY 4 - JUNE 17, 2006

International Print Center New York announces New Prints 2006/Spring: Selected by Richard Tuttle, the twentieth presentation of its New Prints Program. The exhibition will be on view from May 4th through June 17th, 2006 in IPCNY's gallery at 526 West 26th Street, Room 824, between 10th and 11th Avenues in Chelsea. New Prints 2006/Spring is one of a series of juried exhibitions organized by IPCNY four times each season featuring current prints made by artists at all stages of their careers.

Once a year, beginning with New Prints 2005/Spring: Selected by Kiki Smith, IPCNY's Exhibition Committee has invited an individual artist to make the selections for a New Prints exhibition. This year, the artist Richard Tuttle, celebrated for his work in the medium of printmaking as well as painting and sculpture, agreed to serve as the juror and curator for New Prints 2006/Spring .

IPCNY received approximately 1,500 submissions, of which Mr. Tuttle selected twenty prints and artists books by twelve artists for inclusion in the exhibition. All prints were released within the past year. With New Prints 2006/Spring, IPCNY continues its presentations of contemporary artists' prints, creating an ongoing exhibition venue for new work and a central source of information about artists working in the medium of printmaking.

The complete artists' list for New Prints 2006/Spring is as follows: John Baldessari, Enriqué Chagoya, Phil Davis, Benjamin Edwards, Florin Hategan, William Kentridge, Vilja Virks Lee, Erin T. Robin, Petr Shvetsov, Tatiana Iovanova Simonova, Joan Snyder and Amy Worthen.

A statement from the Richard Tuttle will accompany the exhibition.

Richard Tuttle's artistic accomplishments have been most recently highlighted in The Art of Richard Tuttle, a major traveling retrospective spanning his forty-year career. The exhibition originated at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in July, 2005 and traveled to the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in November. It is currently at the
Des Moines Art Center in Des Moines, Iowa, on view through June 11th . Future destinations for the exhibition are Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

With rare exceptions, prints included in IPCNY's New Prints shows are for sale. IPCNY refers potential purchasers directly to the artist, publisher or gallery supplying the print. IPCNY requires no commission on sales.
International Print Center New York is a non-profit institution founded to promote the greater appreciation and understanding of the fine art print worldwide. Through innovative programming, it fosters a climate for the enjoyment, examination and serious study of artists' prints-from the old master to the contemporary. IPCNY offers its members a program of workshop and gallery visits, and has established an informational website and Information Desk available to the public at the gallery. IPCNY depends upon public and private donations to support its programs.

The New Prints Program is funded in part with public funds from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

The gallery is located in Chelsea on 26th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. Hours are 11- 6 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.
